This paper aims to analyse the famous embassy kown as “misión” Keicho whose celebration commemorates this dual year (2013-2014). In this regard, existing studies to date have insisted throughout the local, exotic and archival aspects of the issue. On the other hand, we miss approaches situating the Embassy in the concrete circumstances of the international context of the 17th century in which played a basic role so fundamental actors as the Papacy, the Spanish monarchy, the Dutch provinces, the British Crown or the Tokugawa Japan among others.
